There are short stories which have this metaphor as a moral of the story. We are always told don’t look at the other side of the fence. Look at your own.

I vaguely remember one childhood story. Where the man always believed that the view from other person’s window is better than the view from his own. But, only by actually going close and looking by himself he found out that it was not so.

This metaphor still hops on from nowhere in the mind. This time it was certainly not the same as before. It was with a reason. So, here is a personal opinion on this.

The only reason why the grass appears to be greener on another side of the fence is that we are not part of another person’s process, the hardships, the decision making, the time it took. All we see is the tip of the iceberg(result). If someone appears to be richer in terms of our own benchmark. It might look like grass is greener on the other side.

On the other hand. On reflecting on our own self’s. We are aware of what is underneath the tip of the iceberg(the journey). The time, decision making, people, hardships, circumstance. The times we fell, dusted off and fought back again.

The difference is the wrong comparison. We may be comparing Journey with the result.

If the reason is convincing enough. One can decide for oneself. Whether it actually makes sense to have a look at another side of the fence. And think it is greener.

Or be content with our own process, support(people) and get going.

Honest, straight from the heart things. I care about, bother about, think about, I experience. I share them here. This has a purpose behind.
